APPLICATION AREAS

Bromance nanotechnologies are designed to adapt to different needs and contexts, always ensuring the most suitable solution for each surface and environment. Thanks to proprietary formulations and a modular technological platform, we develop specific treatments for different materials — metals, glass, stone, ceramics, composites, and technical fabrics — optimized according to sector requirements.

This approach allows us to provide dedicated solutions for every field: from self-cleaning protection for infrastructure and mobility, to anti-humidity and anti-corrosion barriers for industry, up to conservation treatments for valuable surfaces and functional coatings for sensitive environments.

Each product is designed to serve a precise function while maintaining common standards: transparency, stability, high performance, and long-term durability.

aeraulics

To enjoy a pleasant and suitable temperature in our environments, both in summer and winter, we can now rely on systems that ensure our maximum comfort. But aeraulic systems must also guarantee, in addition to thermo-hygrometric comfort, energy savings, maximum air quality and cleanliness. “Aeraulic hygiene,” meaning the effects on human health resulting from the use of systems that transport and distribute air within enclosed environments, requires attention because two different contamination “risks” may occur:

Chemical contamination, due to the accumulation in equipment of pollutant particles coming from the outside through the external air intake and from inside the building through the recirculation circuit. In particular, the presence of fine dust (PM10 and PM15) such as carbon disulfide, carbon monoxide, sulfuric acid, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs such as benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene), etc.

Microbiological contamination, due to the proliferation of microorganisms inside the equipment, including animal microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses, and plant microorganisms (molds and yeasts), especially bacteria, viruses and fungi.

These significant risks can be prevented through careful “planning,” already at the design stage, of the hygienic maintenance of the aeraulic circuit.

Bromance also advances innovative proposals in this area: nanotechnological treatments, active for filters and ducts, that prevent the proliferation of bacteria and protect surfaces and materials of aeraulic systems from bacteria, viruses, molds and fungi. The use of low surface-energy, hydrophobic nanocomposite coatings reduces the adhesion of “pathogens” to surfaces and at the same time facilitates cleaning operations thanks to reduced dirt adhesion.

The nanoparticles contained within the nanocoatings do not migrate into the air or the surrounding environment and, thanks to their physical properties and high oxidizing power, help eliminate pathogens.

These Bromance solutions allow maintenance cost reduction thanks to easier filter and duct cleaning, and constant protection from microorganisms that can harm health. The nanocoatings can be applied to all types of filters and materials forming the ducts of the Air Handling Unit.

AERONAUTICAL

When you fly, you literally find yourself with your head in the clouds, but you cannot help but look around and notice whether the aircraft you are on is clean or not. You wonder if it is sanitized, if you can place an object under the seat without then having to sterilize it, if you can rest your head and relax without ending up washing all your clothes afterwards. Seeing and feeling that everything around you is clean and sanitized allows you to truly enjoy that journey.

If the environment is protected from bacteria and viruses, with stain-proof and self-sanitizing surfaces and seats, your stay inside the aircraft is not only more comfortable but also safer. Ultra-thin, highly slippery coatings can reduce fuselage friction, protecting it from ice formation.
Furthermore, nano-fuels and nano-lubricants can reduce pollutant production while increasing engine performance.

Bromance is well aware of all this and therefore offers the possibility to develop customized solutions, both for indoor and outdoor environments. It also proposes research projects for the introduction of nanotechnological solutions within lubricants and fuels for engines, in order to reduce emissions and consumption — flying higher and higher, with full comfort and complete safety.

Agriculture

Today, about 40% of the world’s agricultural land is severely degraded, and thus soil fertility is seriously compromised. Global food demand is constantly increasing, and intensive farming is leading to a decline in crop yields.

For this reason, the integration of essential nutrients, including those of chemical origin, becomes inevitable. However, repeated excessive use of fertilizers negatively affects the soil’s intrinsic nutrient balance. Moreover, due to leaching, chemical loss, drift, runoff, hydrolysis, evaporation, photolytic or even microbial degradation, aquatic environments become heavily contaminated with toxic materials in rivers and reservoirs, causing drinking water contamination as well.

Sustainable agricultural development therefore requires more accurate fertilizer management, since they improve soil quality and crop productivity.

The efficiency of conventional fertilizers, applied directly to the soil or sprayed onto leaves, depends on the final concentration that reaches the target sites. Unfortunately, only an amount well below the desired minimum concentration actually reaches the target due to leaching.

But there is a completely new way to produce food. This method involves the use of engineered nanomaterials in sustainable agriculture.

For example, nanofertilizers regulate the release of nutrients according to crop needs, minimizing differential losses.

Nanoformulations prevent undesired nutrient losses through direct internalization by plants, avoiding interactions between nutrients and soil, water, air, and microorganisms.

Root and foliar surfaces represent the main entry pathways of nutrients into plants, and their absorption is improved by nanofertilizer application. This is why nanoformulated fertilizers ensure balanced crop nutrition throughout the growth cycle, ultimately improving agricultural productivity.

Another sector is that of nano-biostimulants, nanoscale substances applied through foliar treatments or directly into the soil. Once absorbed by the plant, they stimulate growth, nutrient absorption, and improve resistance to biotic and abiotic stress factors.

Automotive

Distances often seem to have vanished thanks to technology and the world of transport, which are increasingly present in our daily lives. The time we spend in cars, transport vehicles, or work machines is constantly growing. Sometimes we spend more hours in a car than at home. This is why comfort, environmental protection and low costs are increasingly sought after.

The reduction of fuel and oil consumption, increased performance, lower maintenance costs, longer component life and greater protection of all vehicle parts, both external and internal, are constantly pursued.

Today, reducing consumption and increasing the life of vehicles is possible through the use of innovative materials and nano-additives.

Bromance relies on innovation to find solutions that can take care of your car, your work and transport vehicle, improving performance, comfort while reducing costs, consumption and environmental impact.

To improve the life and performance of combustion engines, Bromance offers nano-additives, nano-lubricants (oils and greases) and nano-coolants.

Nano-additives for diesel and petrol allow for an average consumption reduction of around 10%, reaching even higher values in work vehicles with constant driving modes. In addition to this significant consumption reduction, a further decrease in CO2 emissions in vehicle exhaust gases of about 16% can be added.

As for nano-coatings, they protect internal and external surfaces, improving their quality and durability over time. Coatings for interiors and bodywork improve comfort and aesthetics while reducing dirt adhesion and maintenance needs.

Nano-additives improve fuel combustion, reducing emissions while keeping the combustion chamber cleaner.

Cooling nanofluids protect the engine, especially under stress, maintaining a significantly lower operating temperature, allowing it to work better and reducing the risk of breakdowns.

Nanoprotection coatings for the bodywork prevent the formation of wash-induced scratches, known as “swirls”; they also reduce the adhesion of insects and dirt (including brake dust on alloy wheels), making the vehicle easier to clean while preserving shine and gloss.

building

Building also means improving and improving ourselves. When we build something, we know we are moving toward a better future, brick by brick, idea by idea.

Technology can truly help create something new and better. This is why innovative materials and increasingly advanced home automation systems have revolutionized, in recent years, even the construction sector par excellence: the building industry. There is a growing demand for high-performance materials, and the need to reduce environmental impact and energy consumption.

Nanotechnologies represent that PLUS which, combined with high-level energy performance, can make materials, surfaces, and systems even more efficient and durable over time.

Bromance is able to offer nanotechnological solutions and services that take care of constructions, from their realization to maintenance, enhancing both interior and exterior surfaces with treatments, coatings and durable nanomaterials with low or zero environmental impact, safeguarding the health of citizens and the environment.

All this with the ability to reduce pollutants in all environments improving comfort, increase material performance, and reduce maintenance costs.

Specifically, Bromance has various solutions to offer.

Among these, of fundamental importance for a change towards sustainability, is the multifunctional nanotechnology related to photovoltaics.

A complete service of supply and application of a nanostructured, transparent, ultra-thin surface coating, with repellent action, which protects coated surfaces from contaminants, whether organic or inorganic, and makes them easy to clean and water-repellent.

Resistant to weather, temperature changes (freeze-thaw), medium alkaline or acidic substances, normal cleaning cycles and UV rays, it simplifies cleaning of panels and at the same time increases efficiency.

PHOTOVOLTAIC

Enhancing and improving surface performance: this is one of the most interesting and important aspects of the nanotechnological solutions offered by Bromance. Applied to existing technology, they can make it even more efficient.

An example? Photovoltaic panels: they are subject to significant accumulation of dust and dirt on their reflective surfaces. This results in an increase in the panel temperature and a consequent reduction in their efficiency and electricity production.

The domino effect that follows is harmful: solar ray reflection increases and the amount of light entering the panel decreases, further reducing energy production.

Moreover, since the photovoltaic panel is composed of micro‑porosities, these retain water which, over time, attracts and holds dust and dirt.

To restore the panel to its maximum efficiency, it is necessary to clean and wash the surface with mechanical systems capable of removing dirt, including oily residues originating from smog and industrial emissions released into the air.

Bromance offers a multifunctional nanotechnological solution, creating an anti‑reflective, self‑cleaning surface capable of lowering panel temperature while maintaining long‑term efficiency. A complete service providing and applying a nanostructured, transparent, ultra‑thin surface coating with repellent action that protects treated surfaces from organic or inorganic contaminants, making them easier to clean and water‑repellent.

Resistant to atmospheric agents, temperature changes (freeze‑thaw), moderately alkaline or acidic substances, normal cleaning cycles and ultraviolet rays, it simplifies cleaning operations while increasing panel efficiency.

retail - industrial

How often do we come across dirty floors, glass surfaces and vertical surfaces in large-scale retail (GDO), stations, airports and factories? These areas too often represent critical points, not only in terms of aesthetics, but also for the functionality of the spaces and the production processes carried out within them.

In these contexts, due to the high traffic of people and/or vehicles, flooring is subject to significant wear and, over time, accumulates dirt that becomes almost impossible to remove through ordinary maintenance systems. Consequently, it turns into a breeding ground for bacteria potentially hazardous to users and for the contamination of displayed products. Bacteria, mould and fungi proliferate, as well as the risks for operators, food products and people frequenting those environments.

All of this can be prevented, although the preferred solution is often to directly replace the material (flooring, plasters, paints), leading to considerable costs, production downtime, and inconvenience for passengers.

With the nanoCoating solutions for walkable and vertical surfaces offered by Bromance, it is possible to enhance surfaces, making maintenance easier and extending their lifespan.

Hotellerie

Hospitality is one of the most ancient and important values that exist. It gives importance to living spaces and enjoying every detail and moment. For this reason, comfort, elegance, and the service offered to the customer are crucial.

Nanotechnology treatments and nanocomposite materials can improve not only the appearance but also the quality of stay within hospitality facilities.

The advantages of using nanotechnology solutions are countless: energy savings, reduction of management and maintenance costs; surface protection; preservation and enhancement of material finishes; reduction of pollutants; self-sanitization of environments and objects; stain resistance and ease of cleaning.

Bromance has experimented and offers various solutions, broad and specific at the same time.

FOOD INDUSTRY

What should be the safest and most protected sector—because it concerns our daily lives and our primary need to eat—still sees the use of aggressive products to keep surfaces clean and free of bacteria. The food industry, particularly in machinery for production, selection, packaging, and filling, in order to reduce the adhesion of food and dirt to surfaces, seems to have few alternatives to Teflon, which unfortunately has low wear resistance and contains fluorinated molecules (PFAS), whose use is increasingly restricted by the European Union.

Work environments, which must ensure ever more precise processes, also require flooring that is easy to clean, low in dirt adhesion, and unfavorable to bacterial growth—something that is not always the case today.

Teflon-based coatings unfortunately remain the most used treatment in this industry, despite poor durability and performance. For flooring, the use of polymeric, cementitious, or hybrid resins instead of tile flooring—thus eliminating critical points such as joints—still presents limitations in terms of cleanability, wear, and bacterial growth due to high surface porosity, making maintenance complex.

Cleaning

Sometimes there is only one meeting point between the environment and matter. One single plane where we rest our dreams, our projects, our goals: the surface. On a surface we work, we eat, we reflect, we talk and we share important moments of our lives with those we care about. But if that surface is not clean, not protected and not properly treated, it can become a source of dirt and disease. At the same time, cleaning it with basic, traditional products does not allow us to achieve the best results.

Cleaning and preparing surfaces for subsequent protective or enhancing treatments is strategic and an essential requirement for the actual performance of the coating itself. Poor cleaning reduces adhesion of any subsequent coating and can lead to defects, compromising it permanently.
Bromance has developed specific cleaning products, along with trained professionals for correct application: solutions for construction, large-scale facilities, stations and airports, as well as products for industry and machinery, plus nanotechnological products for ordinary cleaning using non-aggressive ingredients.

Cleaning properly and with the right products is therefore fundamental, but providing subsequent protection through a specific treatment or nanotechnological coating makes materials more durable, functional and aesthetically appealing over time. Specific treatments or coatings can provide properties that base materials alone could never achieve.

Mechanics

One element that must be considered for its significant impact on the global economy is friction losses.

They generate direct costs through energy waste and wear. If we consider that it affects a country’s GDP by a percentage ranging from 2 to 7 and take into account the indirect costs caused by reduced efficiency in industry and transport, we realize that friction consumes about one-fifth of all the energy produced globally, most of which is used precisely in industry and transport.

Friction converts part of the mechanical energy into heat, reducing plant efficiency, causing wear and requiring frequent replacement of components.

What does all this mean? It translates into an increase in operating costs and a negative environmental impact due to higher energy consumption.

In transport, for example, friction losses primarily lead to a reduction in efficiency: part of the mechanical energy produced by combustion is lost due to friction between moving parts, such as pistons, bearings and piston rings, decreasing the overall efficiency of the engine.

And then to the generation of heat: the kinetic energy that transforms into heat increases the temperature of internal components, leading to an overall rise in engine temperature with negative consequences on material durability and the functioning of lubrication systems.

Another consequence to consider is component wear: friction causes wear on the contact surfaces, reducing engine performance over time and leading to potential failures.

This is the situation in case of friction losses.

But advanced technologies can mitigate these losses, saving energy, reducing costs and lowering greenhouse gas emissions.

Investing in advanced materials, maintenance, innovative lubricants and careful design can transform the way we operate, leading to significant benefits for both companies and the environment.

Bromance, thanks to its collaboration with TEC STAR Srl, offers a series of nanoparticle-based products that, when added to normal lubricants (oils or greases), improve their performance by reducing friction and wear.

NAVAL

Nanotechnology also reaches the highest of the oceans, offering new and innovative solutions with a flavor as ancient as the sea. Given the permanent exposure of naval vessels to corrosion due to constant contact with salt, these large means of transport suffer greatly, requiring continuous maintenance and constant monitoring of surface conditions.

The need to improve the resistance of materials to salt, wear, and sunlight is a daily challenge. This leads to an ongoing demand for innovative materials that facilitate and reduce maintenance, while protecting surface quality.

Bromance offers nanotechnological solutions that meet increasingly high standards of quality and surface durability. For this purpose, it has created a wide range of products and treatments designed for indoor and outdoor environments, for ordinary and extraordinary cleaning, protection, and enhancement of all naval surfaces – cruise ships and more, yachts, and all vessels navigating both in deep and shallow seas. An ocean of new nanotechnological possibilities to allow safer, greener, and more sustainable travel.

Reducing maintenance costs, increasing material lifespan, reducing dirt accumulation, and improving indoor air quality are just some of the benefits that Bromance products bring to the entire naval sector.

trains - metro

Imagine travelling by train or metro with no graffiti, no scribbles, no chewing gum, no dust, soil, braking residue or oils from mechanical components settling on the exterior shell of your carriage.

Imagine that all the pollution that currently darkens and dulls its surfaces is gone.

It would be a completely different journey, wouldn’t it?

Today, in order to keep trains and metros free from graffiti and all types of defacement, cleaning requires acidic or alkaline products which, besides having a significant environmental impact, may also damage paint, seals and glass over time.

To protect trains and metros from all this, the exterior of the carriage should be coated with a transparent, durable, water- and oil-repellent finish. This would ensure low adhesion of dirt, ink and paint, preserving its aesthetics and appearance over time. Such a coating would also reduce the need for aggressive cleaning agents that are harmful to the environment.
